Bridges

Everyone deserves to have a smile they can be proud of.

Don’t let missing teeth affect your confidence to smile or your dental health. A bridge is a tooth-shaped fixed restoration that adjoins the teeth on either side of the missing tooth in question. Dental bridges look like teeth and are more aesthetic than ever thanks to modern dentistry. Your bridge is made especially for your smile.

Why replace a missing tooth?

Missing teeth can cause neighbouring teeth to drift and over-erupt above your gum line, potentially resulting in oral hygiene and bite issues in the future. Gaps in your smile can also be unsightly, even if they happen to be at the back of your mouth. Get your smile looking and feeling healthy again and feel confident about showing off your teeth.

Dental bridges: the benefits

  • A popular treatment that has been used to improve smiles for many years.
  • Dental bridges are a great option for patients who do not have sufficient bone to support implants.
  • Excellent aesthetic results.
  • A Durable solution to tooth loss.
  • Most effective if you have only a few teeth to replace/ if your missing teeth are all on one side of your mouth.
  • Dental bridges are fixed and sturdy, so you don’t have to worry about the risk of it moving when chewing and speaking.
  • Some bridges don’t require any of your surrounding teeth to be drilled.

What to expect from treatment

We will examine your teeth and jaw to see if you are suitable for a bridge. Once we establish your teeth surrounding the gaps are healthy enough to support a bridge, the treatment process can begin. 3D scans of your mouth will be taken, so that we can make a digital model of your smile, giving your dentist a better idea of how your teeth come together when you bite.

Your teeth will then be prepared to accommodate the bridge, which involves safely and gently etching (removing a very small amount of tooth matter from the teeth on each side) so that it sits comfortably. The replacement teeth making up your bridge will be made to be the same shade as your existing teeth and during the two week period your bridge is being created in the dental laboratory, we will fit you with a temporary bridge or crown, to protect the exposed gum.

Once your dental bridge has been handmade, we can call you back to the practice for a fitting and you can leave with your brand-new bridge. We’ll give you advice on how to take care of your bridge at home and answer any questions you might have moving forwards.
