Unfortunately, even your smile has an Achilles heel. Once your teeth suffer a certain degree of neglect, infection, damage and wear & tear, extraction is sometimes necessary. Here at House of Dental will always attempt to salvage your natural teeth wherever possible but if this is not an option, tooth extraction and replacement will ensure your smile remains healthy in the long term.
We’ll take you through what’s involved and answer any questions you have before the procedure is performed. We understand that the idea of tooth extraction can seem a little daunting but rest assured, our priority is to ensure you are comfortable. A local anaesthetic is used to numb the area and proceed to extract the tooth. We will be sure to provide you with post-operative advice and instructions, allowing you to care for your smile in the correct way.
There are some cases where teeth become impacted (when a tooth cannot erupt when expected, due to lack of space or it is badly positioned) or caught behind other teeth, which is common in the case of wisdom teeth. Though this can complicate the procedure, be assured that we have the latest equipment, technologies and practices to make sure your experience with us is a positive one.
Regular routine check-ups with the hygienist and dentist are paramount in avoiding the need for extraction. If you’re unsure how often to attend these appointments, please don’t hesitate to speak to your dentist and hygienist respectively, who can advise on this.
